Briefly tried a pair on today .They seem really stiff what is it that makes them so allegedly comfy ? Do they need wearing in ? And you buy so as there is room at toe and heel .

I want a pair of mephisto helen sandals but my birkies are still going strong so can't justify them at the moment!

I love my birkies - all 4 pairs. I've bought a pair each summer, I too got a pair of narrow fitting in TK Maxx for 19.99 on Friday . I just wear them all the time. My DS thinks they're my slippers and each time we go out asks why I'm wearing my slippers to go out, bless....

JRocks · 15/05/2008 15:55

I love mine - and they seem to last forever too. Bought a nice pale pink pair in TK Maxx last week for £19.99, there were lots of different colours. Sizing always seems a bit random - all 3 pairs are a different size

Are birkenstocks good for fallen arches then?? If so, bring them on !

I thik they are sooo comfortable, and much kinder to your feet than flip flops.
You do need to wear 'em in though..
