Are GHDs still cool?

My trusty GHD's died this morning. Simply wouldn't turn on. I'm devastated. I bought them in 2015 so they are 10 years old so I know I can't complain.

I've only ever had 2 pairs of straighteners in my life, including those ones! The first pair was also GHD's that lasted 10+ years.

What the hell do I buy now? I've heard GHDs aren't built to last the way they used to. And there's so many other brands now - cloud 9, molly mae, Dyson!?

I've googled it and I'm completely overwhelmed. Please help a girl out!?

(For note, I have shoulder length thin brown hair.)

I’d go for Cloud Nine or one of the high-end Babyliss models.

My Dd swears by L'Oréal steampod, her hair is curly and they straighten it easily.

I have Cloud9 and also Remmington which are cheap and work fine

Aren't they hot???

When my straighteners broke recently, on the advise of my hairdresser, I bought a thing that’s like a combination of a round brush and a hair dryer. I used to straighten my hair (it’s long), this hot brush thing straightens my hair out but gives it more of a bouncy, freshly blowdried look. I use it for about a minute every morning (on dry hair). Prefer it to my old straighteners, it’s one of the best things I’ve bought in years!

My hairdresser uses cloud 9 brand.
Like you I've only ever used GHD. On my 2nd pair. When my 1st broke I took them to an electrical fixing shop. They said they'd made them now so they couldn't really be fixed.

Apparently the newer ones are rubbish, I'm dreading mine breaking, I got them in 2008!
My friend is a hairdresser and shes got cloud nines, she said the newer GHDs don't come close.
