Today I bought one of those 4-8 Leappad systems for my ds 4th birthday. He loves things with buttons and so I thought it would be right up his street. However, I then went to some other shops to buy books for it to find that nowhere had any apart from ToysRUs. JohnLewis told me LeapPads were being replaced and then I read on the internet about the Tag reading system that is supposedly coming in later in the year www.leapfrogshop.co.uk/leapfrogshop/tag.html . Does anyone know anything more and should I return the LeapPad? What would be a suitable alternative?? I don't want to buy into it if the books suddenly start being hard to find. Many thanks in advance.

Argos and Woolies do the books. You will probably find that the price of the books comes down dramatically if Leap Frog have introduced a new system to replace Leap Pad - lots of shops will have stock they want to get rid of.

Hmm, well I'll have a think about it. To cap it all off dh is well annoyed with me cos I took a longer than planned shopping trip leaving him with the dcs all afternoon. So when I said I might return it he was none too pleased....he's currently hacking at the garden with an annoyed expression on his face
