My absoulte favorite for me is Body Butter from the Body Shop. It is so thick and soaks in fast with no greasyness at all. Also comes in a range of sents

For my baby girl I use the Johnsons Naturals range. It has a completely different smell from regular Johnsons and also a little goes a long way which is handy cause it is a little more pricey than your average lotion.

No7 self tan, wears off, easy to put on. Ace.

Dingle · 10/05/2008 18:24

Is it Johnson tanning body lotion that has supposed to have a "new improved fragrance?"

Anyway I wanted to order one with my online shop so I went for Dove Summer glow...please tell me good reports! [fingers crossed smiley!]

I'm using the Dove one, have very pale skin though so I find it has too much of the self-tanning ingredient in there, even though it's supposed to be the gradual build up one.

I dilute it with normal Dove body lotion and slap it on every day, started out with just a tiny bit of the 'tan' one, now using it about 50:50. Since it's building up really gradually this limits the streakiness and oranginess.

IME the oranginess is pretty much standard whatever you use since it's the same ingredient (DHA) in every fake tan. What makes the difference is how successful you are in applying it evenly, and without it sticking too much to your dry bits. Having said that I think some (eg St Tropez mousse??) contain an extra temporary dye which improves the initial colour, but doesn't last long.

I found Dove better than the Johnsons one, although have had mixed results. Diluting it sounds like a good idea though!

DoubleBluff · 10/05/2008 18:49

I like Garnier summer body, doesn't smell as bad as Dove et al.

Dingle · 10/05/2008 18:55

I used to mix the Johnsons one with good results it was just the smell that put me off!!

The smell comes from the DHA as well, so is sadly universal to all self-tan products. Though it's obviously less concentrated in some formulations than others - another reason to dilute!

disagree I've used lots of fake tans and st tropez is far away better colour and more forgiving of sloppy application. The colour is more golden.
garnier not bad but felt greasy
