Placed an order on Ocado that got delivered today;

I didn't realise it took the payment after delivery so I transferred the money across & assumed it paid for the shopping with Apple Pay because it did the little cha ching noise ( idk how else to describe it ) however when I went onto my bank account later this evening, I see that Ocado actually tried to take the payment after delivery, to which by then £4.99 had come out of my account thus declining the payment - ofc I will pay them but will they try and take it again themselves? Is there a fee for this? Isnt it abit risky for them seeing as downsides is a fridge full of food I haven't actually paid for.. :/

When do y ok think you paid with apple pay? When you ordered? They don’t ( in my experience) take payment then as you have found out.

I use ocado and i chose to use pay pal which comes out usually pretty much after they’ve delivered.

Contact their customer services asap and sort it out they are usually pretty good.

If it's the first shop they check the account beforehand so if it was the first time you shopped that is perhaps why you thought you had paid. I would ring them and explain so you can pay.

Yes it's my first time I've never used Ocado before!!

When I placed the order - I think because it was my first time shopping with them they check the account first to see if there are available funds which is what led me to think that the money had already gone out of my account!

I remember I paid with credit card and I had to confirm it in the app, something about checking funds for the first couple of shops. Has anything further happened? It's worth staying with them as Ocado showered me with money off coupons and a free £17 box of Hotel Chocolate in the first couple of months.

I had similar once as they had an old card on the system so the payment failed after I’d had the shopping. They sent me an email saying I needed to pay which I ignored as I assumed it was a scam. It took months for me to realise it was genuine, think when I next went to order and couldn’t place an order. So they won’t do anything apart from send you sporadic, polite emails asking you to pay.
