Wool clothing and socks for kids

We grew up in wooly clothes, and having recently moved to the UK from down under I am amazed at the lack of woollen clothing available, especially for kids. Am I missing something (the horrendous moth?) or is there a reason why it’s hard to find kids jumpers- without costing the earth? Where are you buying cute woollen (or woollen blend) clothing and socks?

About ten years ago you used to be able to buy wool in loads of shops but then inflation made it too pricey so you just get crappy acrylic stuff. The best place for wool is second hand on eBay or vinted but be careful of moths.

H&M and Zara have reasonable cashmere stuff for kids. Try smartwool for socks (that’s the brand, you can get them on amazon though). Bit of a pain in the butt laundry wise though! Given the UK isn’t THAT cold (I appreciate my assessment of that is probably quite different to yours as I recently moved from Chicago and you from Australia 🤣) I’d rather go with a sweatshirt I can use vanish on then fling in the dryer.

I think it's more to do with providing easy care stuff, especially for kids. I don't have a tumble dryer but many do and everything is dried in it. Wool would never survive this. For adults, you can find wool and wool mix - uniqlo is good for basic shapes.

John Lewis usually have wool stuff, when their winter stuff comes in.

Jojo Maman Bebe used to do wool jumpers when my dc were little, but they’ve been too big for about 10 years so I don’t know if they still do.
