DPD ONLINE DELIVERIES

Please, has anyone experienced the DpD delivery where a pin code is sent to you before delivery, which you then have to provide to the courier when he/she arrives with your parcel? I have doorstep deliveries, as I cannot open the door immediately. Do Dpd have to get you to key the number into their machine? Do DpD also expect a signature with this pin code system? Can I write the pin code number by the door bell with a request to leave the parcel on the doorstep? (I can show I am in by waving at the window).

You need to give them it and they put it in the machine before giving you the item. I doubt very much they'd give it to you the way you suggested. Its usually higher value items and they won't be allowed to leave them unattended. When I had a pin number item they wouldn't even leave it at a neighbours

You'd be better updating the delivery notice online that you need extra time or put a note on the door for the driver to wait for you to open the door

@CallMeFlo
Thank you, but the reason I can't open the door immed is because I am still having to shield from covid, so I fetch the parcel a bit after they have gone.

I think Mumsnet has changed, and I didn't need the ampersand before your 'name'!

They will only hand it to you in my experience, I have an intercom and they wouldn't take the code through that and I had to let them into the building to deliver.

FromHere · 12/02/2025 23:07

Why are you still shielding?

penni00 · 12/02/2025 23:11

TheLadyIsAVamp Thank you. It is really annoying, I have managed doorstep deliveries since the beginning of covid, and now suddenly am stuck with this delivery. I really need this parcel, but it seems daft to risk getting covid for just getting a parcel delivered. I was hoping the fact that I could wave through the window to show I am in along with the pin code being on the door would suffice. It seems not. How do you get the person you are addressing to come up in bold? I used to get it by putting an ampersand in front of the name

You’re not going to catch Covid from the 30 seconds it will take for you to give your PIN and take receipt of your parcel. If you’re that worried, wear a N95 mask and wash your hands before and after.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 12/02/2025 23:14

@penni00 that's how I do it still, it should bring up a list once you type the @ and just click on the user user you are replying to

penni00 · 12/02/2025 23:16

FromHere Because the AstraZeneca I received in 2021 has made me long term ill, and I have improved a little over the years. My neurologist has warned me I am likely to relapse if I get covid, and I simply cannot face relapsing.

I'm so sorry @penni00 that sounds awful Flowers

penni00 · 12/02/2025 23:26

@TheLadyIsAVamp Just realised I called @ an ampersand instead of the at sign - I have terrible brain fog!

Could you open a window and explain to the courier, tell them the code and say you'll come to the door ?

Or ask them to put in down and then stand back when you open the door?
