Casserole dish / dutch oven recommendations?

My dutch oven of about 8 years has definitely seen better days - I'm not in the market for Le Creuset (yikes!) but has anyone any other recommendations? It's enamel coated cast iron. Have people found much difference in aluminium / cast iron heat retention properties etc? Habitat has a 4 litre cast iron one for £45 which seems suspiciously cheap but it looks just the right size/ shape.

You can get reductions at sale time on Le Creuset in various colours. They are expensive but they last for decades, I had 2 casseroles given to me 36 years ago as wedding presents and they're both going strong, on one the knob cracked and Le Creuset gave me a free replacement. Cost per use over all that time is minimal. I don't know if others would last as long.

I have an absolutely amazing one from Tefal - it looks like a le cruset one but it is so light & easy to lift even when full! I joke that I love it more than DP! 😅

I have a couple of cast iron ones - large and medium which I love. I’m sure I got the smaller one from Sainsbury’s.
I recently changed all my pans and oven trays over to Scoville, they’re so brilliant that I recently bought a casserole dish in their range (made sure it’s the metal handled one so oven safe), but haven’t used it yet. That was £24 in Dunelm during the sale.

Is your original Dutch oven of reasonable quality? If so I might first look into having it professionally refinished. I'm located in Germany not the UK and around here there are several firms offering this both for skillets and other cooking gear for around €15-20. Have a Google or maybe call the manufacturer if it's domestic and see what they recommend.

@ThoroughlyModernNotMillie You're definitely tempting me to a Le Creuset, now!

@TheOriginalCrazyLady think I've found the one you're talking about, they do look good!

@OneLoyalGreyFish thanks for the recommendation - will have a look at Scoville as I do have another pan which needs replacing.

@GrumpyPanda I can't remember the brand but I got it from a catering store so it was sold at a discounted price, I think we're more of a 'throwaway society' in the UK, sadly, but I will look into that if I end up buying an investment dish, thank you, definitely worth bearing in mind.

Thanks everyone for your input!
