I don't have one of those, but I do have a piece of waterproof material that I bought from my local hardware/haberdashery shop for a couple of quid. I chose the pattern, it was cut to size and it was waaaaaaay cheaper than that.

We had the pirate one last year and its very large and thick and has lasted. There is a 25% code off ELC at the moment for online use so if you need a few bits it may be worth doing.

ok thanks.

so too thick to use as a table cloth? how large is large? more than a metre wide?

I used a clear plastic film to cover ds's table and it's worked really well, you can hardly see it's there but the table is protected.

It's the stuff you get from diy shops. It comes on a roll and has low-tack adhesive on one side. You're supposed to put it on your carpet when you're decorating. This sort of thing.

We have the aforesaid Pirate mat - it is about 1 m by 1.15m ...

I do think it could be used as a tablecloth, but surely it woud be easier to buy a disposable one if it is going to get very messy??
