Firm mattress… that stays firm?

Im in the market for a new mattress. I’d like a firm one. Has anyone had one for more than three years they’d recommend? I’ve been looking at Emma and Simba and all that type of thing but all the reviews are from people who have just bought one, as opposed to people who’ve been happy with their choice for years!!!

I would go for wool.

I've had my firm ikea mattress for around 2 years now and I love it. Would definitely buy again. Its still in the exact same condition as when i bought it. I think it was around £700. Tried in store first before purchasing.

We spent £££ on a Dreams pocket sprung. It's unbelievably heavy but we've had it for 6 years now and it still feels like new.

Any of the foam ones (I've had those previously) so go soft sooner than you want and are not as durable. If you do go with foam you need one that you can sleep on both sides. We flip ours regularly and it definitely helps with longevity

We've had a Simba for 4 years, still lovely and firm, and sooooooo comfortable. Best mattress I've ever owned

Hypnos mattress. My best buy ever

Comeonicandoit · 06/02/2025 11:51

Amazing advice thank you.
@KarateSchnitzel any idea which it was?
@Ihaveneedofwaternear do you know which simba one it was? There are a few and price ranges are dramatic haha

It was Simba Hybrid 9 layer or something... It was about £800 and worth every penny!

It was this one:

Actually a lot cheaper than I thought it was! It's a great mattress for the price

IKEA

Another vote for Dreams here, I think it's a pocket sprung one too. Cost about £800 over 7 years ago and is still very firm and in good condition.

What did you go for OP?

LuckysDadsHat · 04/05/2025 13:47

I have just bought a hypnos extra fim posturecare 8 mattress and I am praying it stays firm. The piece of shit silentnight one hasn't lasted 4 years before it's all saggy.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 06/05/2025 13:25

A hypnos one is on our list as potential. I'm sensing Silentnight is one to avoid. Any other brands we should steer clear of?

Warren Evan’s all the way. I have had mine a good few months now and not much settlement, it’s their only double sided mattress and mostly wool. In the firmer option. I actually need to use a topper with it as it’s so firm! But it’s still looking basically new. Would recommend them highly as a company. They offer a sleep trial too.
