Wishes are cool and non girly.
Thinking of this expensive but seems well made.Anyone got an Isla or other good bike for their children that they can recommend.

I'm hoping that they are very good, I've just ordered one for ds's 4th birthday. They do look cool and non-girly so would definitely fulfil your dd's requirements.

I had a good look around the web and read reviews and Islabikes did seem to be very highly rated.

We have a Ridgeback for ds (only 4.5) but it's great - very sturdy and a proper bike. The brand was recommended to us by a "proper" cyclist who knows his stuff.

They look pricey though as you go up the scale - this is the 24" (don't know if that's the right size for your 8 year old dd, sorry).

The Ridgeback and Isla bike both fulfil the cool requirement. Will need to check on size and budget

Islabikes have a size chart with height and max and min inside leg measurements for every bike which is really helpful, or you can phone them.
