Skinny athletic kid seeks school trousers!

Hi ladies and gentlemen, I hope you can help me.

I have a little man who is six years of age, he is very slim and muscular and we really struggle to find trousers to fit him. Outside of the school day he wears mostly oversized jogging bottoms and we pull the waist in. His waist is probably a 3 to 4 and his legs are probably at age 6 the problem that we have with his legs though that they are super strong so he has really big muscles. We get round this by wearing baggy joggers at school though they have to wear the classic grey school trousers until now we have been getting away with wearing age 5 to 6 and taking the extra bit of length down, and putting the waist on the tightest setting. He’s now saying though that sitting down is really uncomfortable because they are tight on his thigh and on his calves once someone comes round, I will put him into shorts which will mean that he won’t have to worry about his calves and we can wear a white fit at the top. But sadly, he really feels the cold so I think we have a few months to go until he can do that.

Has anyone found any magic school dresses that might accommodate my slightly unusual sized child?! Slim fit don’t because they’re too tight on his legs regular fit don’t because they’re too big on his waist, even with the adjustable.

For context, he takes part in a sport called bouldering which is been doing for just over a year now he’s also really into general fitness. I think because he started climbing when he was little he’s just put on muscle as he’s grown. There isn’t an inch fat on him but his thighs and his calves are massive! He eats like a horse, good and bad stuff, and is generally very fit and well.

thanks!! X

Oh my word all the typos- once summer comes round and he’ll wear a wider fit naturally on the leg in shorts

Can you sew? The only thing I can think of is buying a bigger size and taking in the waist. Paying a seamstress to do this each time would probably get quite expensive.

Oh man how I wish I could… I think in order to be able to get the right width in on his leg we might even have to get up to a size 7 and the amount of material that would be in the waist then it’s gonna be so uncomfortable for him, even if they’re taken in

Is he allowed to wear chinos? These are available in wide fit with stretch. No sure what colour you need though.

Hmmmm that’s an interesting option! I’m wondering if he’d cope with knee high socks and long shorts
