Washing Machine or Washer/Dryer?

I've got to purchase a new washing machine, as our machine is unfixable.

Anyway, I've only got space for a washing machine or a washer/dryer.

So are washer/dryers worth spending the extra money on?

Also, what should I be looking for in a washing machine or washer/dryer? What spin do I go for? etc. etc.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I have a washer dryer as I have no space for a tumble dryer and if the weather is bad I have something to fall back on if I need to wash towels, bedding or ds throws up on his sleeping bag, etc. We got one with a 2000rpm spin this time as the faster the spin the more water gets removed from the clothes and the less time it takes for them to dry. We also got one with an A rated wash cycle.

We got a washer-drier because there was only space for one. We try not to tumble in any case, but for in wet weather with 3 LOs it is a BIG help. Sometimes the laundry airer is a permanent fixture in our kitchen, and though it's a large one, even it gets overwhelmed at times.

They have a poor service record, and don't generally dry quite as well as tumble driers, so if you do go for a washer-drier it's probably better to get the best you can afford - which means Miele or Bosch, really.

We have a Miele washer-dryer and it has changed my life, would thoroughly recommend. Was ££££ but worth it, and Miele customer service really good as well.

which? recommends washer only if you have room for a dryer as washer/driers are pretty unreliable. also if you have two separate machines you can get laundry done twice as fast

would definitely recommend a miele.
