Is this ok for a 4 year's old b-day party?

My daughter really loved the dress:

It looks beautiful and suits her, but I keep thinking it's more like a flower girl/bridesmaids dress, not a b-day party dress.

What's your opinion?

At that age, I’d get her what she wants, if she really loves it.
As long as she understands that she can’t have another she falls in love with next month!

She's 4, let her wear what she wants. It's reasonably priced and doesn't look like it would stop her playing etc.

Bibbitybobbity70 · 29/01/2025 19:56

Glad you're letting her wear it anyway. It's lovely & she wants to wear it which is reason enough. My DD15 wore lots of lovely monsoon type party dresses when smaller, mainly.bought for other events but expensive so just let her wear whenever she liked tbh.
It will wash anyway. Embrace her love of dresses,my DD hasn't worn a skirt or dress since 10yrs, I think the sparkly dance costumes overdid it for her lol.

I'm just thinking whether my gut feeling about the dress is right. Even if everyone on this thread tells it's 100% a bridesmaid's dress, are we still going to going to wear it

I’m just kinda jealous you get any say at all about what your 4 year old wears…. Mine is very clear about what she will and won’t wear (and I don’t think it’s worth a battle) so we have lots of very “interesting” outfits!

She seems to have a strong opinion about some pieces but is a bit more relaxed about others. This dress we both liked very much, in fact she refused to try another one after this because she loved it!

Mine always wear a really pretty occasion dress for their birthdays, only get to wear beautiful dresses like these whilst they are little so go for it and take lots of pics! She will feel and look like a princess 🥰

It's gorgeous. I don't think it looks like a bridesmaids dress at all. Would be a lovely summer/holiday dress as well

InDogweRust · 04/02/2025 21:18

Its a nice dress but an unusual choice for a 4 year old to pick themselves. Most 4 year olds choose colourful/glitter/sequins/pink/unicorns

It looks more like you chose it op.

Notjustabrunette · 05/02/2025 10:59

I think the price is a bit steep for a 4 year olds party dress. But if you can afford it, go for it.

Grammarnut · 05/02/2025 11:21

Ok for birthday party - but beware chocolate, cheesy snacks etc. Be prepared to have dry-cleaned afterwards!
If DD loves it then let her wear it. Price is a bit steep, though!

TheSidewinderSleepsTonite · 05/02/2025 15:27

I really can't see anyone going to a 4 year old's birthday party and judging her dress for being too bridesmaidy. It would be a weird thing to do.

CowboyJoanna · 06/02/2025 14:27

£58 for a party dress that is crazy, but then again that is the working class northener in me Grin
