Not a true black

A couple of years ago, I bought a black COS puffer coat, online. It is beautiful, perfect shape, very warm, well-made. The trouble is, it isn't a true black. Black clothes, shoes and bag, look stupid with it. In some lights it looks like a very sad purple, in others a ditchwater blue; but blue and purple look equally bad with it. It doesn't take to grey, either. The result is, I never wear it. Is there anything to be done? Some wash/dye I could put it in the washing machine with? Or should I just take it round to Oxfam? Or find someone who'd like it, for free? I have tried to talk to COS about this, I'm obviously not explaining myself, or it, very well.

I doubt you can dye it unless the outer fabric is uncoated cotton.

Tsk, that’s annoying. I suggest getting a huge scarf in a violent contrast colour - that will knock back the colour of the coat a lot and it should also work with other black stuff.

What size is it?

Smart thinking, Supersimkim7. Thank you. It's a 40. I went up from my usual size because I thought I'd be wearing thick jumpers under it. Not not wearing it at all. When I went to check the label just now it was lovely black under electric light. It's problem is outdoors. I'll give the hugely colourful scarf trick a go, though I might have to go and buy one. Or I'll just tell it that it's chips are up; I've spent too much time fretting over it.
