Goodbye Skinny Jeans, Hello...?

Please help! I'm mid 30's with two very young children and zero sense of style. I currently live in skinny jeggings which quite frankly are the only trouser I have that fit. I really would like to move on from my skinny jeans era but what do I wear?!
I am absolutely not out there when it comes to fashion. Typically, I join the trend when it's probably nearly over and I've decided I won't look out of place. I am very happy to blend in.
The other issue is I'm only 5' and reasonably slim so easily drowned in material.
I'd love any recommendations, bonus points for elasticated waist bands.

Skinny jeans are back in!

Completelyjo · 17/01/2025 19:14

I feel like a straight leg jean is generally the most wearable.
Wide leg is cool but really unless you really style them it can end up looking a bit slobby if it’s just with a big jumper and trainers.
Skinny jeans are fine with an oversized jumper but look very dated with something like a long sleeve fitted top.

New look are great for petite jeans post the topshop petite days imo.
I tend go for the Tori or the Hannah style. Also 5ft and slim.

Please no don't say skinny jeans are back in. Awful horrible things.

Skinny jeans are back but not as they were. They aren't the paint on variety. They are more narrow straight leg. They don't cling all the way to the ankle
I've attached pictures showing stretchy spray on vs skinny straight leg

@changecandles yes, they look so nice! Hate the horrible wide leg monstrosities people have started wearing - so unflattering.

theworriermum · 18/01/2025 08:16

@changecandles and they looks so much better than the stick on jeans!

I was quite slim when the trend was black skinny jeans and black boots. I was less slim when the white wash skinny jeans came in as you posted here.

Love the new style but I have big thighs post babies!

A straight leg or wider straight leg is where I'd start. Barrel leg or really wide if you're feeling braver.

I love wide leg jeans. And barrel. But I also love straight leg. What I don't like are the old style skinnies that are painted on high % Lycra legging style skinny that are tight all the way down. I think they make most legs look like tapered sausages.

I have one pair of dark blue skinny jeans. I only wear them when I'm going somewhere on an evening really. I much prefer my MOM jeans. So much more comfier.

Edited

I just bought a pair of Tori jeans from New Look and love them - great shape. Also the dayna paper bag style is fun too with a cropped jumper or tucked in top + overshirt.
