i bought a maxi cosi cabrio today for its fabric only. the plan is to swap it with a 'sale' car seat which will be reduced in the summer with this limited ed discontiunued fabric. cost me £10. i got it at a car boot sale. lady said no accidents, but would prefer new seat anyway. but then she told me there was a base included in the price. turns out its an isofix base.

can these be used safely second hand? obviously i dont know the true history of it. do bases have to be replaced after accidents? does anyone know?

In an accident the base does not move - its clamped into the car so I would have thought it would be OK IYSWIM

dfficult one. I'd say they're probably less vulnerable than the seat itself. Can you call a local ROSPA for advice. Rather suspect if you approach a manufacturere or store they'd advise a new one as it is hardly in their best interest to endorse a second hand market.

i've been googling and cant find anything.

its bloomin heavey though.

if its ok would save me a fair bit.
