Amazon Prime = 4 days to deliver anything

I've been Prime for years.

It has always meant I can order pretty much anything from Amazon up to about 10pm and I'll get it the next day, including Sundays. It was brilliant over Christmas.

I needed something tomorrow. I ordered at 11am today. Every single item of this type wouldn't arrive until Monday. 4 days to deliver. I looked at popular Amazon items, like Echo's and Pop's.

4 day delivery for them too.

I've just spent 2 hours chatting to 5 different associates (poor things kept having technical issues, so kept losing the chat) None of them could tell me why everything would take 4 days. The last associate tried to say prime meant one day after they ship it, hence why it would arrive Monday. I don't understand that either.

I'm now getting this item delivered to my friends house a 10 minute drive away... It's arriving tomorrow using my prime. Who'd have thought it?!

Anyone else had this farce?

Could it be because of a temporary lack of delivery drivers in your area maybe?

I know prime deliveries are usually a bit longer over Black Friday when presumably there is more demand do they adjust things slightly. Maybe similar adjustments are made for delivery driver availability?

If that's the case, they should say. Live chat gave me some rubbish about one day after dispatch, and first class shipping. Made no sense.

It's not Prime itself, if I order an echo or firestick or tablet before 6pm today it will arrive on Sunday in spite of my rural location. It will be courier, or possibly warehouse, related if yours is Monday.

ETA standard 2 day delivery is the default shipping on items fulfilled by Amazon. It tells you all of this in the prime delivery benefits help section.

Not had issues here.
On Tuesday morning ordered poop bags for the dog, food waste bags, a washing up brush, a microwave saucepan and some Avon hand cream.
All arrived Wednesday afternoon. Really happy with their delivery.

I assumed they had stopped delivering at weekends. Mine has been the same for about a year. Order on a Friday it arrives Monday. I like 3 miles from the local (huge) distribution centre

SoupDragon · 17/01/2025 09:26

My deliveries are usually available for next day delivery. A good number are available for same day delivery. I do live not far from one of their delivery hubs though.

I've noticed the same thing and also wondered why!

Doggymummar · 17/01/2025 10:48

We are lucky to have same day and next day service. But it depends where the item is. Last week I needed new wellies as mine had a hole in. The only pair I could get next day were if you spent over £20 so I threw in some socks as well. They were on my doorstep when I got up at 7am on Sunday morning. There were lots that wouldn't arrive time Monday. You can filter for same day and next day, which you probably know. How far away does your friend live?

Where are you located? Not having any issues here.

TellMeDinosaurFacts · 17/01/2025 12:15

I've got this too. Things that were next day delivery before Christmas have become 2-3 days since. I assumed there was a backlog/driver shortage- interesting that it appears to be region-specific. I'm in a small city.

CariMaroon · 17/01/2025 12:26

I’ve noticed in November that there were longer delivery times. Things went back to next day delivery around Christmas but since then they have gone back to longer delivery times. I’ve been on prime for years and like yourself I could usually get next day delivery for most items bought up to 10pm. And even same day delivery for some items!

Floralnomad · 17/01/2025 12:33

If I order in the morning I still get most things next day , if I order in the evening I get it the day after next . I’m SE , not sure if area affects it .
