Tassimo or Dolce Gusta?

Not a huge coffee lover I tend to enjoy caramel latte, mocha that type of thing so I don't see the point in buying an expensive machine, I'm currently debating between tassimo and dolce gusta, what does everyone prefer? Is one easier to use than the other and most important which pods are easier to get?

We have a Tassimo. Very easy to use. Costa coffee pods are really good and Cadbury hot chocolate. Never used a Dolce Gusto. Both have pods easily available wherever I shop though - Home Bargains has them cheaper than the supermarkets.

Ohh thankyou, I'll have a look

I've had both and prefer dolce gusto. There is a better range of pods if it's coffee you're after. All the machines start to leak after around 12m in my experience. I finally invested in a bean to cup machine and it was the best decision ever.

I am the opposite. Dolce Gustos leaked eventually. My Tassimo keeps on going without any maintenance and I prefer the range of pods.

We had a Tassimo and I didn't like the drinks. The ones with milk already in tasted really fake to me. I've got a Nespresso Vertuo now and that is much better, although the pods as quite pricy.

We had a Tassimo but we didn't love it. Novelty at first. Sometimes had to use 2 pods to get a decent sized mug which worked out expensive and a faff.

The flavours on offer were OK. Just ok. I agree with pp about the artificial taste of milky drinks. Not awful but never felt like a luxury!

We're looking to get a bean to cup machine instead.

I have both and prefer the coffee from the dolce gusto, i buy the pods from Asda and they are usually 3 boxes for £10, I'm sure tassimo is the same though!

The Costa and Starbucks sachets are actually quite nice that you just add hot water too, I had a Starbucks caramel latte one this morning and the Costa millionaires mocha is good too!

Heckythump1 · 04/01/2025 13:16

I've had both, currently got a Tassimo which I like but I feel like Dolce Gusto has a better range of pods (and slightly cheaper)
My DG machine was a very old model quite a few years ago and it didn't automatically put the right amount of water in for each pod, you had to manually stop it, I was forever wasting pods because I'd get distracted by one of the children and forget to turn it off 🤣
I would imagine they are automatic like the Tassimo now though!
I think I will go back to DG when my Tassimo packs in, I've had it for 3 years though and still going strong!

That's very true. I think DD likes the kinds of drinks that you do and she'll get the Costa Millionaire mocha sachets. You can't get anything as nice (or a full cup 😬) with the Tassimo. She never uses ours.

Tassimo, with kenco grande americano pods.
The only downside is that the pods aren't very eco friendly. That's something they need to sort out.

I think you can get refillable pods online.

Definitely the dolce, we had a tassimo and you're limited to the one type of pod and I found them all disgusting 😂
