Vinted - return of faulty item

I'll try and keep this short.

I sold a brand new / unopened console on vinted a month or so ago.

Seller contacted me to say it doesn't work yesterday, I'm honestly devastated.

They emailed the company to say it's faulty and they won't deal with them as I purchased it (they have the receipt and order number etc).

Buyer has requested that I refund them and they will return the item.

Am I correct in my suggestion? I've emailed the company to log the faulty item and assuming they ask for it to be sent back the buyer can send it directly to them. I can't afford to refund the buyer at this point even if I wanted to.

It's just such a mess! Our DC changed their mind about the console they wanted and it was too late to exchange which is the reason we sold it.

Have you read the Vinted terms and conditions? Essentially that covers what you must do.

@watchuswreckthemic I have and it says the buyer must log a faulty item within 2 days to be eligible for a return/refund.

Technically I don't have to do anything as I guess she should've checked it worked on arrival. But it was sealed so I understand why she didn't.

I'd really like to sort it for her so I've emailed customer services and hopefully they will replace it or refund me.

Id be wary they haven't just swapped out a faulty console and are trying it on....

@blink3times sorry I missed the bit where you said it was a month ago. How frustrating for you, Vinted does seem to side with the buyers so hope you get sorted

I think she takes the hit. Or you. I had same, I bought an electric scooter. Won't work. Didn't check it as was for Christmas. Had it checked last week. Totally done. So nothing I can do.

NOT you

Doggymummar · 26/12/2024 18:41

You don't need to anything, they should have tested it and logged a complaint in the right time frame.

callmebuffy · 26/12/2024 18:56

It's on them and you have no obligation.

I'd be wary of refunding before they even sent it and you have it in your hands as well as could be a scam.

Thanks all, I think I've confused everyone with the original post. I'm the seller.

I will try everything I can to get her a replacement but I won't be refunding the money (unless I receive a refund).
