I'm going to need a sling or carrier to use with my new baby especially when im alone with my other 2 children and need to nip into town etc. I was looking at the wilkinet, but some reviews about it have put me off. Can any1 advise on a really trusty sling or carrier please. Many thanks

When DS was little, I used an EllaRoo ring sling. Super easy to use, versatile, and comfy - lasted until he was 1.

I loved the Kari-Me, looks a bit hippy like but is great. Used it nearly every day till they were 18 months, can even breastfeed in it

I used an ergo from when mine was about 4 months, and loved it. We used it daily till he was about 18 months. You can get a newborn insert for them, but I don't know if it is any good. But it is a brilliant carrier for slightly older ones.

i tried a babasling and couldn't get on with it. (think my boobs got in the way!) then used a baby bjorn carrier and that was fantastic!

You'll get as many different opinions as you get replies here, I fear! I have had a Hotslings pouch since DD3 was a few weeks old and I'm still using it at 8 months. It's great and there are bargains on ebay if you order from the USA.

ooo i saw the hotslings pouch and liked the look of that... any more reviews please?!

We used a ring sling when he was tiny, then an ergo. The newborn insert thing is rubbish ime. Dh used the baby bjorn too but it did my back in.

Have a look over at the babywearer. It's a minefied, but you'll get lots of good advice and reviews there

I have a hotsling as well, from when ds2 was 4 months until 1 when he got a bit too heavy and wriggly. Loved it! Very easy as portable, easy to put on and he was happy as larry. However, does put lots of pressure on your shoulder after 10-20 mins so really only good for brief carries, picking up ds1 at nursery, when grumbly in supermarket that kind of thing. Wouldn't advocate it for going into town and walking around for any length of time.

I'm expecting dt's and have 2 other children so looking at a close or hug-a-bub which will be more supportive. I still think I'll get a lot of use out of my hotsling which was only £30 anyway, got so many comments too! I had the sweetpea design and it's just gorgeous. The close carrier is being reviewed elsewhere on products thread right now, so take a look and that might do the job?
