Talk to me about vinted refunds!

Quite skint this year so trying to use vinted to get some brands my teens like nearly new and save money!

One particular hoody my girl wanted I have now attempted to purchase 3 times!

  1. Seller didn't send, I took a risk on low number of reviews. Got refund within a couple of days
  2. Seller (female name and image) wanted to delay shipping as they were abroad but then I got a really weird msg from their "brother" wanting me to communicate by email. Brother kept calling seller "he" so I cancelled sale. Seller has to confirm they haven't posted it which they haven't so question 1 how long will I wait for refund if seller doesn't confirm???
  1. Seller had good reviews and quite a few branded products. Hoody arrived and it is a very obvious fake. Like honestly awful. I have not had a link yet to accept the product (which is odd) but I have messaged seller and no reply. Has anyone experienced this and do you get a refund?

So I'm now waiting for 2 refunds worth £100 altogether and have no bloody hoody!! And f I don't get a refund there'll be no gift and the rest of it is for food!

Any advice?

Nothing over a fiver for me from now on!

Hi, OP. We saw your thread didn't have much luck in Chat, so we've moved it to our Shopping board now.

Sorry OP but I've been stung so many times on Vinted I don't shop on there anymore. I stick with eBay. Vinted don't give two hoots about buyers and the "buyer protection" is nothing more than just a fee you pay in order for the seller to sell.

imnotthatkindofmum · 08/12/2024 21:32

Well I managed to get a refund from the seller for the fake one. No communication from them at all so they must have known and just been chancing it!

We'll see about the other one. I'm looking on eBay too!

I just sold a lovely vintage shearling coat for 29 pounds on eBay and I paid the five pounds postage. I got brilliant feedback so buyer is happy. I don’t buy or sell on vinted,

Grmumpy · 08/12/2024 21:36

Sorry..hope you get your refund soon.

I don’t buy anything more than a tenner on Vinted just isn’t worth the risk.

I've just received a mini cassette player I bought off Vinted as I've acquired some old tapes of family members I'd like to listen to. Described as perfect working order and very good condition. Well it doesn't work at all, the spools just spin for a moment, squeal and then give up the ghost whether there's a cassette in it or not. It's absolutely filthy too and there's some awful brown gunk all over the case it came with, which funnily enough wasn't pictured. Tried cleaning inside with a swab and isopropyl alcohol but it made no difference. I've just gone through the return request process. With it being something mechanical it's not possible for me to provide evidence of it not working without attaching a video, but there's no option for that so all I could include was a picture of its condition.

This will be the last thing I buy off Vinted. I've been burned too many times and the buyer protection you have to pay for is a scam.

Update!

The "fake" seller I put in a report about accepted the complaint so obviously knew all along it was a fake and trying their luck. They didn't want me to return it. My 11 year old is very happy with it!

The weird one where I got a message from their "brother" I ended up messaging vinted direct and they sorted it out for me within a day and a half. I couldn't find how to contact them on the app so I just googled it and sent a message.

So both being refunded thank goodness!

And finally I have got what I wanted from eBay, same price, perfect condition, very obviously genuine and in the exact condition stated I've not used eBay for used goods in ages but definitely will continue looking there now.

Will stick with nothing more than a fiver from vinted from now on!
