I bought the Jane Twin Two tandem pushchair back in October ready for DS2's arrival in December.
It took us ages to find a tandem pushchair because the majority of them wouldnt fit in the boot of our car when folded.
So the Jane was perfect.
We bought it from a seller on Ebay. They actually have a nursery shop down south and sell on ebay too. Their feedback is 100% and have sold alot of items.
Anyway back in March we discovered that the back seat wasnt right.
On the back of it it has a plastic part on either side with notches in and then a metal bar that runs across the back of the seat. This bar sticks out wither side and sits in the notches and it determines how far back or up the seat goes.
Well the bar had bent and the plastic parts were all damaged.
I contacted the ebay shop and they said I had to send it back to them and they would repair it.
I had to pay postage for it which was £15 and I was also without a pushchair so I left it until the half term hols because I dont drive and at least it meant I didnt have to worry about getting dd to preschool.
They were pretty good and had it back in just over a week.
They said the reason it broke was because we had folded the pushchair with the back seat reclined and that they actaully put in extra notes when they sell the pushchairs to make people doubly aware of this.
I can't remember seeing one when we got ours.
Anyway we used the pushchair Monday to Friday when it came back just for school runs which is 5 mins up the road and back.
On the Friday dh and I took it in the car to our local town.
Obviously because of what happened we were very careful in how we folded it.
After this Friday we were all house bound because we caught an awful virus thing that had us stuck in bed for a solid week.
The week after that everything was back to normal and I was getting dd's school bits ready on the Sunday night.
I decided to recline the back seat back on the pushchair since it hadn't been touched since the trip to town over a week ago.
There was alot of resisitance on the seat, I had a look and the same thing had happened to it!
The bar was bent and the plastic was damaged.
I have to point out at this point that when it came back to us after the first repair they had done a makeshift repair as you could still see the marks on the plastic part.
So I contacted the ebay seller again, they were great and after alot of persuasion with Jane she managed to get them to have the pushchair collected off me and sent back to Jane for inspection.
I at this point have been tearing my hair out as once again we are without a pushchair and we are due to go on holiday on Tuesday next week.
On Monday I had an email from the ebay seller and she said she had been on to Jane all day, they have inspected the pushchair and that its our fault, the pushchair has been folded incorrectly and it will cost us £43!
Needless to say I am bloody livid and have told them that I will not be paying for a repair and that it is not my fault and I know that for a fact.
2 days on and I still havent heard from them.
I've called Jane and they wont speak to me because I am not a retailer and I am now 5 days away from my holiday and only 3 of them are days I can get my pushchair back because Monday is Bank Holiday.
What else can I do?
Has anyone else have problems with Jane?
Think my next step is to email Tony Levene at the Guardian
