We're going to a wedding later this year and I'll need a nice outfit for dd. I've had a quick look at Vertbaudet and Next...any other ideas?

Thanks

Monsoon - very nice 'girlee' things!

LIZS · 09/01/2005 13:55

Laura Ashley ?

pupuce · 09/01/2005 13:57

I agree with Monsoon! Laura Ashley is a bit of a gamble.... not always great. Are there no children shops (not big brand) where you live ? I found gorgeous christmas clothes for my kids in one of those (and they were 50% off too!)

bit of a gamble but h&m have lots of dresses

monsoon is brill tho

Clayhead · 09/01/2005 13:59

Thanks, great ideas.

I'm not aware of any independent shops but then I haven't really looked, not good at RL shopping, better on the internet . I'll ask around though.

If you are splashing out then try Kent & Carey (shops in SW LOndon), Tati (shop by main order/online). Can you sew? I made two VERY VERY simple skirts by simply sewing together two very long rectangles of silk with a fat piece of elastic through the top which looked fab. with a cream top/cardi/jersey and cream tights and polished shoes.

(HOpe this doesn't sound too Martha Stewart)

I too second third... Monsoon
Stunning occasion wear...
OR browse Ebay for some of the more well known designer brands...
Not all of it is 2nd hand
And H+M for accessories,

aloha · 09/01/2005 20:24

aztecstore.com has a sale on now and posh clothes for kids. Also Tati & Monsoon.

Try www.mischiefkids.co.uk for some French makes - bit pricey but some lovely stuff.

Hulababy · 10/01/2005 08:53

Monsoon is great for lovely, girly, posh looking outfits

Or a little children's boutique type shop. DD's great grandparents have bought her some very lovely outfits from places like that, although not cheap at all.

HappyNewCardigan · 10/01/2005 08:54

Laura asley or monsoon - wonderful. John Lewis can have nice outfits as well.

Hulababy · 10/01/2005 08:54

Oh forgot too. If you want party type dress, try BHS. They have a wedding range, which includes girl's dresses. Most are for Bridesmaids dresses, but some could easily be used as a wedding guest wear too. And very reasonable prices generally.
