Have you been on a spring free trampoline?

and if so are they any good? Considering buying one (not least because of the large number of nasty trampoline spring accidents I saw / was involved in when a child) - but they are expensive so I thought it worthwhile canvassing views on whether they are any good.

see if you want to know what a spring free trampoline is

My SIL has a spring free one, we have a normal one with springs and neither me nor the kids can tell any difference...we all still bounce the same if that helps!

thanks - yes, really the bounciness I was concerned about - and also durability I guess (ie that the high tech frame doesn't fall apart after about two minutes)!

What kinds of nasty accidents?

BottlebinBerrie · 28/04/2008 14:31

Lordy, they really are expensive...

oh you can imagine - the kind where you hit the edge / snap bones / pinch bits of yourselves between springs etc. I'm probably a bit paranoid, but then my niece / nephew were given a trampoline for a Xmas present, and on the first day he managed to jump exactly on the joining point of the edge / side protection bit, fall over and get his head stuck between the two (ie he was upside down with his head / neck stuck in the gap because the stitching had given way. And he was only just three, so it can't have been a weight issue. DS is the sort of child who will injure himself if it's humanly possible - so keen to reduce the amount of time I have to spend micro-supervising, if that makes sense!

Still...not sure we could stretch to that much
