Online purchase in bits. REPACKED DHL

The other day I bought some stuff online. One item was a mug. It arrived in a box, too big for a mug, with no bubble wrap or packing chips inside, yet the box itself was very helpfully* tightly wrapped in bubble wrap and tape that said REPACKED DHL. Why would that be? It came from a shop in the EU. Is it, I dare wonder, a Brexit thing where some scrote at the airport has to open up and repackage every single item so we can take back control?

The original packaging might have got damaged or they might have had to open it at customs

Suspect the latter is more likely. You'd have to be a real dimwit to parcel up a mug without any cushioning material.

Just realised I was charged €15 for shipping. FFS.
