Argos questioned my integrity

Argos In Sainsbury’s
158–162 High Street
London
SE20 7QS.
Order number 6654445975

I attended this branch at approximately 10.30 to return an item for refund (£40).Having ordered two items, the same size in error. The item is unopened and well within the refund period. I was refused a refund as the assistant decided wrongly that it had been opened. No Management until 1pm.
This same branch did not give me all the items that came with a new iPhone I purchased recently and I had to return to the store a second time to receive all I paid for. That experience and the poor reputation for service this branch has in the area should have been a red flag.
Clearly Argos is questioning my integrity and this is totally unacceptable to me.
With my busy and expensive Christmas period of shopping having commenced and for the future I will only purchase from Customer orientated, professional retailers. John Lewis,M&S, Amazon etc. These assistants are trained to a high standard. I have found these companies can be trusted to honour their returns policy if needed.

Why are you posting this here instead of head office?

It’s not personal you know, they know nothing about you or your morals. The sales person was doing their job as they saw it. I hope you stayed pleasant.
Go back when a Manager is present if you want to question the original decision.

Legally they are not obliged to take returns, any policy is discretionary.

Actually all online purchases fall under 'Distance Selling' regulations. This means you can return or cancel within 14 days of online purchase without any reason.

LIZS · 14/11/2024 15:32

Was it an online purchase?
