Anyone with Southern Electric?

They've been calling and asking us to change to them from NPower. Claim to be cheapest for the last 5 years - but then they would. Apparently they don't advertise and have limited overheads. It sounds plausible, but...

What's the truth? Anyone with them? Any good?

It pees me off a bit when these companies ring and they know so much about you - name, address, who your provider is... gets my back up to begin with and makes me less inclined to switch to them even if they are a good deal.

I must admit I only gave them the time of day because the sales-girl was an Aussie with a very perky and sexy voice.

I was with them for 1 month before I switched back to my old supplier EDF. Just when I signed up, they had a huge price increase so I canceled right away. Just go to www.uswitch.com and select "gas and electricity suppliers". There you can enter your zip code, current supplier, usage data, and they give you the cheapest supplier for your area with all the plan and pricing information. It's very reliable and accurate, I've used the site for years. You can also read the customer reviews about each supplier there.

Im with southen electric get both gas and electric from them. I have prepayment metres not sure of the price per unit. They do some good deals if you are on a low income. I get 20% discount on each unit i use and 20% bck every 3 months of electric i top up. Sorry if it doesnt help much.

well, put it this way, i'm with them and have everything electric in my house apart form the hot water & heating, from 17th jan to 17th feb I was charged £17 in electric and £28 in gas (I have a 2 bed bungalow, and my heats on half power for 4 hours a day). So if you ask me the heating is excessive but the electric is ok - then again i'm about to get another bill thru soon so will let you know after that. not had any real issues thou, was with them in my old house, tbh I never really paid attention to the cost of it all. prob should do now thou.

We are with SE for our gas and have been for about 2 years.

Dh (who does the price monitoring/bill paying) recommends them.

One thing though, they are currently trying to get BT customers to sign up to them for a discount on your next bill (something like that anyway)

They claim to have 5 million customers on a 28-day rolling contract so they can get off with a month's notice ?...

I dont know anything about that. They tried phoning me a few weeks ago regarding some offers but for some reason they called my mums house phone (where i set the account up from) and not me).
