Are they worth it?

And realistically do you think I'd get fit using the new Wii Sport goober?

Apparently:

1,830 calories the average amount of calories burnt a week by children using the Wii console (based on a 12.2hour average gaming week)
130 beats a minute the heart rate children can reach while playing Wii, compared with 83 beats a minute when playing sedentary games
27lb the weight loss you could achieve over a year by playing Wii Sports for 12.2 hours a week.

I'm getting mine tonight but had never really considered using it as a part of getting fit. I don't think Mario Kart will!

Hmm ... maybe not

No, it's not for getting fit - it's for fun and the novelty of the controller.

Wii Fit doesn't get you fit either as the as the senior marketing director of Nintendo has made a public disclaimer.

Get it for fun. If you want to be fit, but an exercise bike, some dumbbells and a yoga manual. You'll be quids in.

Erm... BUY not but

DH wants one regardless. I just think I need to get some value out of it too, to make it worthwhile, so kidding myself it will get me fit. My kids are only little so they won't be using it for a while...
