Boring question about iPod Shuffle and playlists

And the question is: can you play playlists on the Shuffle, or is shuffle, just shuffle and nothing but the shuffle?

What you actually need is a Shuffle, and then a waterproof armband holding device and then waterproof headphones and £100 or so later you can swim with music - it is fantastic. I go swimming now just so I can listen to music in peace.

God yes, I'm sure I would swim more if I could listen to music or podcasts while doing it. Swimming gets so feckin boring after a while.

My problem is, I mainly want this for the gym and for that I really want my gym playlist - but would also occasionally want to listen to my other iTunes stuff as well.

Isn't the nano about 4x more expensive?

Yup. Cheaper ones on eBay though.
