Sunglasses for toddlers: are they worth it?

Off for a holiday in the sun in 10 days and wondering whether to get DD (16mth)a pair of those sunglasses that have a stretchy elasticated band round the back of the head. I am rubbish in the sun and need a hat and shades hence the thought. Has anyone used these and were they worth it? She'll have a sunhat of course (even if I have to sellotape it on )Thanks!

Good for a toy. They just take them off though! I think not.

A sun umbrella is the best thing I think.

My dd has pretty delicate eyes and sun and a wind combination brings her out in red sore eyes . We tried the Banz when she was smaller but found them easier to put on over a hat !! Now she is 2 she has a pair of polaroid glasses held with a kind of string which she forgets that they are on half of the time. If no wind we use the sun hat option and she is happy to wear it . It completely depends on the child. Some will happily keep them on. Some will tear them off in disgust and chew them. I would take some just in case - my dd dislikes brightness and asks for sunglasses if it's sunny - she'll happily wear them all morning. I wouldn't necessarily bother getting the soft headstrap ones though - in my (limited, personal) experience I've never known a child keep them on but have seen plenty wear the ones with plastic arms, which are much cheaper anyway.

Right then, plastic arms and a string it is! Thanks for helping. Now if you could just pop round and do my packing as well that would be great...

I did like the Baby Banz but neither dd could abide them so ultimately they were a waste of money I found.
