What is special about a range cooker?

I know this is a numpty question. But are they just large cookers or is there something else different about them?

It depends, I have the one which is basically a large oven (90cm instead of standard 60cm) but my friend has the one which has two doors so you can cook things at two different temps at the same time. I am not a technical cook so thought that a bigger oven would be better for me!
