What do yo udo with lo's old shoes?

Ds has just outgrown his first shoes. I have non desire to keep them - I'm not very sentimental, being raised by a catholic and a presbyterian, lol - and I don't want to chuck out what were expensive shoes. They are still in great condition and I wondered if I should give them to our local charity shop. I noticed they sell shoes, though I'd not buy them myself. I'm a bit weird about feet...
Should I just bin them or hand them in with his old clothes?

Our recycling bank asks for pairs of shoes. They recondition them & send them abroad.

milge · 19/04/2008 19:59

I put them in a clothes recycling bank in the supermarket car park. Alternatively a local womens refuge may want kids shoes.

charity shops love shoes they are best sellers, raise them alot

WendyWeber · 19/04/2008 20:05

Oh, I kept all their first shoes

The rest went to Oxfam or shoe bins or whatever though.

TooTicky · 19/04/2008 20:09

Definitely recycle/charity

hippipotami · 19/04/2008 20:10

First shoes are in the keepsake box. Rest went in the shoe recycling box which is stationed at the end of my road.

I kept all my dd's with a view to giving her them all back when she was 18 as her 18th bday present - she is 5 now and we had a clear out and decided it was a crap idea and she would grunt at 18 for something useful lol! so they all went in a recycle shoe bin (except those first teeny tiny ones)

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/04/2008 20:11

recycle them - there are bins for this outside some shoe shops/shoe repairers

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 20:12

sold them on ebay.

cocolepew · 19/04/2008 20:13

local shoe shop sends them to Africa.

chocolateshoes · 19/04/2008 20:17

I put them on Freecycle

BettySpaghetti · 19/04/2008 20:27

We found someone through Freecycle who regularly goes out to help at a charity for children in Africa and ships out boxes of shoes to them.

I wait until I've got a bag full and drop them round to her.

Check the "links" bit on your local Freecycle home page and there might be someone doing similar in your area.

I have all of dd's in the hope that bump will be another girl who can make use of them!

nickytwotimes · 20/04/2008 21:02

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll pop them into our local charity shop as it sounds like others would be able to make use of them and it's handy for me as I am one of those weird people who can't drive and lives in the arse end of nowhere, lol!

ebay is good. I also buy DD's shoes for 'rough' on ebay, much cheaper. I get her measured in clarks, get her a pair for best then a clarks pair for the park or CM's etc on ebay for about £5. Bargain. She is 2.

Sputnik · 20/04/2008 21:09

We have a load in a box and DD has spent many a happy half hour taking them all out and putting them on her teddies etc.

chunkychips · 20/04/2008 21:10

ebay
