Does anyone have this www.maclarenbaby.com/gb/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=121&Itemid=512 bouncy seat? If so, what do you think?

Also, any other recommendations which I might like to look at?

TIA

Great - thanks. Some nice ones. Like the Jane chair but wonder whether it's suitable for newborns ... further investigation required!

I have a baby bjorn babysitter 123 or whatever it's called and it's actually excellent, lasts a lot longer weight-wise than many other chairs. It folds flat so we've taken it on hols which is v.handy. Great for newborns in the flatter position and then raised up for older babies/toddlers. They kind of rock themselves in it too. Plus best thing is you just shove the cover in the wash or at a pinch turn it over. I found a lot of the padded ones (e.g. I had a bruin one from toys rus too) are absolutely impossible to clean mainly because the covers aren't machine washable and v.hard to get off. Which looks like it would be a problem with the maclaren (nice as it seems, worth considering!). I find the babybjorn is quite minimal too, I got sick of the garish toys r us one v.quickly and it was sent upstairs! I do like the fact you can carry the baby in some of them like the maclaren which you can't do with the bb although practically you can't do it anyway after the baby hits about 15 pounds as it's too awkward.

I had a rubbish bouncy chair for my first child and then borrowed a baby bjorn one for my second and I LOVED it. It's so bouncy when they get a little bit older and can kick their legs a bit. And like accessorizequeen says you can use it for a longer time but I would get it for bounciness.

Had been looking at Baby Bjorn but couldn't work out whether it was suitable for newborns ... one website said yes, another said no. Really like the look of it. Hmmm ... might be onto a winner there! Thanks!!

We had one from M&S and it was fab for all three kids.

I was thinking of putting it in the paper for sale but wasn't sure if people buy them second hand.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/04/2008 19:22

chicco one here. It is now on its 5th baby, (not all mine, LOL) and I'll get it back for my No3, so its sixth outing!

this is the modern version of it, with added dangly bits.

joynovemberjoy · 19/04/2008 20:21

Just want to second the Baby Bjorn chair. I dug ours out today (baby due in 2 weeks) and remembered just how much I used it for our first. It was fine for a newborn and the cover removes really quickly for washing. We also bought a M&P all singing and dancing (actually vibrating) chair and got rid of it within weeks.

accessorizequeen · 19/04/2008 21:58

I know the bb doesn't look v.padded, well it is n't padded at all, but they sink into it so well and look so comfy. I've never actually used it for a newborn as I didn't buy it until ds1 was 4 months and lost it until ds2 was nearly 3 months! But afaik it is suitable from birth, and cannot see why it wouldn't work for the smallest baby.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/04/2008 22:02

Another vote for Baby Bjorn - dd is 2.2 now, and still likes to sit in it and bounce so hard that her head nearly hits the floor!

saadia · 19/04/2008 22:15

Another BabyBjorn fan here, used it from birth for ds2 and as others have said it has some great features - adjustable as they grow, foldable, washable, reversible and very sturdy.

Great to hear all the positive BB comments ... shall try and get two ordered in next few days
