Water softeners

We live in the SE and our water is very hard and I am getting mightily sick of having to buy lots of products to try to remove the limescale from our bathrooms, kitchens, toilets and shower enclosures.

Has anyone had one installed? Is it worth the £1500 spend (that was the gen quote I received) and does it make any difference?

TIA

We have a Kinetico 2020 and it is fab! HAd it installed when new Boiler etc installed (we are also in SE) and it is amazing! No more fur on shower heads or taps. Bathroom sooo much easier to clean. No salt required in Dishwasher & only use 1 Tablet in Washing Machine for the worst loads.

You have to keep a drinking water tap, and as we hadn't the room for a spare tap our kitchen sink tap is untreated so the kettle still gets furry!

We also bulk buy the salt blocks about once a year.

We're the same! We installed a Kinetico about 10 years ago from Aquavitae Ltd in Amersham or Beaconsifeld ?? and just brilliant. Gas bill went down the very next Xmas due to pipes being cleared of limescale, use very litte soap and only pure soap now (kids had eczema so turned turned to non-toxic products like Ecover and method) and no more salt in dishwasher. Best of allhardly any cleaning as no scum to clean up from taps, baths or showers! Hurrah :-)!
