Anyone use a newborn support with an out and about nipper?

I'm trying to work out exactly how it works...do the pushchair straps still go round the baby or does the support just attach to the pram and then you attach baby to support?

Have purchased a double nipper but not loving the idea of putting my teeny newborn straight into a forward facing buggy when previous 2 babies have lain flat in a carrycot for the first 4 months...

HiTassissss, The pushchair supports go through the support and then around the baby. I felt the same about putting DS2 in a forward facing as I was insistent on having a carrycot for DS1. It's not so bad, though as you can still see the baby really well in the nipper.

Also, your second child is the same age as my DS1 (Sept 06). if it's just a short walk, DS2 goes in proper pram and DS1 walks. Maybe you'll be able to do the same?

When's the next one due?

Hi bristols, lovely to hear from you! I'm not sure I'd heard that you'd had your baby, another boy, how lovely! What did you call him? when was he born? How's 2 under 2 been? How's the big brother coping? Any tips on preparing LO?

How're you finding the double nipper? Do you have the support? Is it worth getting? How did a newborn look in the nipper?

I'm due in June. Bit fed up now.

Look forward to hearing from you. Sorry for all the questions!

Apologies for the typing but am currently expressing!

Had him on 17 feb. Great labour. Started at 1530, to hosp at 1915, born at 2007, home by 2300. Great stuff. He's called Jed. 2 under 2 v hard work! DS1 fantastic but is hard dealing with him on little sleep. J is not doing v well at night yet. I'm surviving on 4-5 hours a night which is not good! hopefully it'll get better soon.

DS1 loves his brother. didn't do too much to prepare him as he didn't understand. has just taken it in his stride really.

Have support for nipper and LO looks cosy in it. is completely flat so good for newborns. You're welcome to borrow my support if you like? we won't still be using in june.

Nipper pros: lovely to push/steer
easy to get up/down kerbs
both seats lie flat
can carry up to 50lb in each seat
roomy seats for toddlers
not mega pricey

Nipper cons: quite wide (won't go through my front door
Fairly straight forward to collapse but stays big (takes up a lot of boot)
babies facing away from you
Quite heavy (but I don't know how it compares to others)

I'm not sure I knew you were pg again! How old is your eldest?

tassissss - off to bed now. Hope to catch up more tomorrow. Night

PS. Am ever the optimist so hoping for a good sleep...........

Hey bristols, sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Jed is a very cool name and I'm sure he'll be sleeping better before long. Glad to hear your ds1 is coping so well with being a bit brother...how lucy'll cope is one of my main concerns about the next few months. She's fairly full on hard work at the moment (though utterly adorable at the same time!). My ds1 will be 5 on Friday and is very excited about the new baby (though possibly not as excited as he is about turning 5!).

I've picked up a nipper on ebay and I'm delighted with it. Like your Sept 06 babe, Lucy's a great wee walker so hopefully I'll still be able to use our pram with carrycot a fair bit over the summer months while baby's tiny. That's so kind of you to offer me your support, thanks. There's two ending on ebay in the next few days so I'm fairly hopeful that I'll be able to pick up a cheap one and sell it on...

Lovely to catch up. I think our Sept 06 thread has died...I'll go and attempt to resurrect it and see if anyone else is up for chatting!

Yeah, would be good for a quick update from all the Sep 06-ers to see how everyone's getting on.

If you don't manage to get a support, just let me know. You're welcome.

Do you know what you're having? I hope Lucy is OK with the new arrival. I think that if you are relaxed about it all it certainly helps the LOs be relaxed about it too. I suppose it's just a case of talking about it lots. I bought DS1 a pushchair and 'baby' of his own which I think helped. He also looked so cute with it.

Don't forget to let me know how you get on. It'll soon fly round now...

tassisssss · 14/04/2008 20:19

Lucy's hugely into dollies and her pram etc etc. All very cute.

I've just posted on the Sept 06 thread so do go and put your chat there when you have time.
xx
