Help! I am in desperate need of a trendy basic pair of trousers. Something to wear to toddler groups with a pair of slip on birkenstocks mules or to walk into work before changing into my uniform. I wear a bright green uniqlo style bag. Something that doesn't make me look 100 but also don't want to look like I'm desperately mimicking a student.

My style pre covid was colourful vintage/floral - think floral dresses with a pair of trainers and hoop earrings or vintage Laura Ashley top with a pair of skinny jeans and a jazzy vintage cardigan, or a patterned mini dress from the 60s. Kinda dressy uppy quirky I guess. I never really wore "basics" iyswim.

Since skinny jeans have gone, and having the lifestyle change of having a toddler, going from a size 6 to a size 12 now(and no plans to lose weight!), and a vulval condition that makes tight at the bun/crotch trousers problematic, I've had to overhaul my wardrobe. I had a pair of mum jeans but they look a bit dated now and shrank in the wash so not so comfy. I had a pair of alexa black trousers from Lucy and yak which I love the style of but they really chafe between my thighs and make me so sore. I feel like I tried on every pair of bottoms in my size at my local h&m and just could not find anything flattering that would be comfy.

I'm a size 12 5ft7 with a massive bum and boobs. I prefer ethical/natural materials where possible. Please help me! I just want to look normal and am mourning the ease and flattery comfort of the skinny jeans! I get it, their time was up but what on earth do us over 29 yo wear now to look edgey but normal?!
