Philips LCD TVs with Ambilight - are they worth it?

Is the ambilight feature worth paying extra for?

You can't see in a showroom how much difference it makes and I don't know anyone with one.

We got one in the bedroom. Love it there! Can't really see much use for it in the living room as you are bound to have more lights on (at least we do) and the room is so much larger. I think you would loose much of the effect of the ambilight.

We got sent it by accident from the insurance company, I wouldn't say it was worth the extra £800 on the one we were supposed to have had!
