Tripp Trapp - how long did your DCs use one?

We have one which DS1 (3) uses. I thought he might be happy to pass it on to DS2 (10 months) and to sit on an ordinary chair, but no chance!
Cant decide if its worth getting one for DS2 as well, since they can be converted into proper chairs, though have no idea if this works in reality. (DS2 has a cheapy IKEA highchair at the mo.)
Any feedback much appreicated.

Me too (one TT, one IKEA). Will buy another TT when have money as can use till adulthood! Apparently...

dd is 5 and still has her tripp trapp. DS is 2 and a half and we bought one for him when he went into a chair.
No plans/need at the moment to shift dd off her one. Though she is still perfectly happy to sit on a normal chair when people come round, and often we end up with adult perched on her chair.

Was wondering if anyone HAD actually used one for longer than a few years, hard to know its its just a marketing ploy or if they really do work as long lasting pieces of kit....
(MB was it you posting on Style and Beauty re clothes advice last week? I posted on a particular thread which I cant find now, but seem to remember your name??)

eldest dc is 7 and still uses hers, I sit on them too and I am nearly 40 - long enough for you?

Furball · 05/04/2008 16:37

Lidl have one for £40 starting tomorrow if you want a cheapy

jennifersofia · 05/04/2008 16:39

Ours got passed onto dd2 when she needed it as a baby, and now planning on passing it onto dd3. However, presently, both girls use it and regularly sit on it at the same time (5&7). Still looks great after 7 years.

BouncyTigger · 05/04/2008 20:23

We've got one each for our kids (3 and 10 months) and our friends emigrated to Australia taking theirs with them for there 9 and 12 year olds who still use them daily. Theirs look as good as new too.

Piffle · 05/04/2008 20:25

dd is 5 and will be using hers forever. All visitors sit in her seat as they really like it.

Furball · 05/04/2008 22:47

have a look at this thread

chocolateshoes · 05/04/2008 22:48

My friend has 1 that she bought years and years ago. It is now used as an extra chair at the table when they have guests - me for example!

brimfull · 05/04/2008 22:48

ds is 5.5 and it's still in use by one and all in this house

taipo · 05/04/2008 22:50

dd (8) and ds (5) still using theirs.

Pannacotta · 06/04/2008 09:36

Thanks all, sounds like they really are a long term investment1
Have decided that DS2 deserves his own Tripp Trapp chair!

DD has used hers almost daily from 5 months old. She had just turned 6. It has been in chair mode, without baby set from about 14 months. It gets used at the table for eating, for doing craft, at the computer, etc. And all the visiting little ones get to use it as a high chair too.

BosworthBear · 06/04/2008 10:33

DD 6 and DS 4 use theirs and are also used by friends up to 12 when they visit!! I also use it them regulary (12+!!!)

hana · 06/04/2008 11:00

have 2 - 6 year old and 3 year old use them everyday. and me too!

quint · 12/04/2008 19:56

DD1 is now 4 and still loves hers - we got her a new one then got DD2 a 2nd hand one off ebay - then swapped them as I didn;t need a 2nd baby set

geekgirl · 12/04/2008 20:01

dd1 stopped using hers a few months ago - she's 8. My children had one each, they are so very useful (although I have stubbed my toes on them rather frequently ).

geekgirl · 12/04/2008 20:03

(should add that of course dd1 could have carried on using it, but she got slightly embarrassed and visiting friends would ask her why she was using a highchair )
