Mountain Buggy Vs Phil & Ted's - which is easier to steer one handed?

Also does anyone know the RL width of the MB?

According to mothercare the MB is 71cm vs the P&T 58cm - however my P&T is actually 61cm wide

I find my P&T almost impossible to steer onehanded. Never tried a mountain buggy tho'

KaybeeandZak · 04/04/2008 18:09

My p&t i can stear one handed only if on perfectly flat ground! Still it's much better than my previous mclaren...

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 18:10

The P&T is heavy but steerable one handed IYSWIM, I should think the MB is loads lighter - the mothercare UD is lighter to push than the P&T sport (I'm talking singles here btw)

uptomyeyes · 04/04/2008 18:11

I've just steered my P&T one handed all the way home from dropping DS2 off at beavers, whilst chatting on the phone.

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 18:12

The sport is heavier than the E3 btw.

TheBlonde · 04/04/2008 18:59

Weight for the singles are allegedly
11kg P&T
11.5kg MB so not much in it

I can steer my P&T one handed but it's not that easy esp as most of the pavements here slope

But I think the MB has some special thing in the wheels to make it lighter to push IYSWIM - what does it say in the MB blurb - ask misdee she's had both, actually AuntFi probably has too.

MB is great.

are you looking at single or double buggy?

if a single, with no view to having need for a double, then get an MB. the back of the seat is shorter, but dd3 still fits in hers comfortable and she is 3. i can even put the hood up. i am keeping it dc#4. it steers so easily, can push it one handed for miles.

the p+t is great as a double buggy for its space saving qualities, but i dont really rate it as a single buggy.

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 21:27

so misdee I assume the MB is lighter to push then because of the thingy in the wheels?

misdee · 04/04/2008 21:30

no idea about any thinmgys in teh wheels lol.

the mb is simplier in design, folding is easy, and i always think of KISS when it comes to its design (Keep It Simple, Stupid. lol) the older ones with fixed handle feel even lighter to steer tha the newer ones IMO as well. (i started with the old one that i got for a bargain on ebay a while ago now).

TheBlonde · 04/04/2008 21:39

Thanks CarGirl & misdee

I'm thinking single
I already have the P&T but my 3 year old is now happy to walk

have used both (lots) and IMO the mountian buggy is much easier to steer

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/04/2008 21:43

I can push my MB one fingered, never mind one handed!

Nemoandthefishes · 04/04/2008 21:47

I push my P+T one handed most of the time due to holding ds[4] hand while walking. I find it quite easy but have never had a MB.

nannyL · 04/04/2008 22:30

I agree the P&T is easy to push

having used it daily for the past 2 years

used the mountian bugyy in last job fro previosue 2 years and it was easier

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 22:34

plus the sport is heavier to push than the E3, my bugaboo is easier to push than the sport. Plus my dds legs were too long for the sport and she bumped her face on the bumper bar twice in one journey!

Lennied · 05/04/2008 21:20

I LOVE my mountain buggy... can push it round the living room to get DD off for her nap AND phone my sister at the same time. You can definitely push it one handed... and avoid furniture with sharp cornering. They are lurvely.

amazonianwoman · 06/04/2008 00:02

Definitely the MB - had a P&T sport for about 6 mths, found that it veered quite a lot.

Have had a MB for about 1.5yrs, love, love, love it Can easily push it one-handed even on grass etc, with 28lb 12mth old and LOADS of shopping in the basket.

Also easy to push even with kiddyboard attached for occasional use by 3yr old

Really can't fault the MB in any way

amazonianwoman · 06/04/2008 00:03

In fact the MB pushes itself, you just walk along behind it holding on

amazonianwoman · 06/04/2008 00:04

Oh forgot - I thought it was 69cm wide - can check tomorrow if you need exact figure. No problems pushing it through internal doors

hettie · 06/04/2008 10:02

hi - I own a MB and have borrowed a P&T when I look after 2 kids. The mountain buggy is much easier to push- god knows why am not up on technical stuff. I can certainly push it one handed (even up our tremendous hill) and although you can also manage this with P&T it's not nearly as comfortable. I am constantly amazed with other peoples buggies how heavy/hard to push they seem.... Adore my MB and it's also totaly bullet proof. That said not much use with 2 is it

TheBlonde · 06/04/2008 10:57

Thanks everyone, I think my mind is made up, when we visit the US I'll buy a MB
