We have a silvercross linear freeway.
Nice bbut massive.

I have £150 max to spend on a yummy buggy. I'd like a very small light one (live in london, use tube) that can face both ways. Ideally not a maclaren - one that looks funky/is a bit different. (Only ever see mclarens/bugaboos here )

Help!!

Icandy cherry. There are some on ebay for

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2008 00:31

see here I managed to get one last week for £89, this is what Misdee (knowledge of all prams) recommended to me, when I said I wanted a light, rear and forward facing buggy.

sushistar · 04/04/2008 00:35

hmm looks a bugger to fold on the bus...

SparklyGothKat · 04/04/2008 00:37

mmm forgot about buses.

SmugColditz · 04/04/2008 00:42

The reason you see so many maclarens is that they are the best small pushchair to take anywhere. I resisted for 4 years, but got given one and although it tips over quite easily if I force too much stuff on the back, it's great otherwise

sushistar · 04/04/2008 00:46

but colditz they're so booooooring. I want one between boring (maclaren) and pretentious(bugaboo - sorry all you owners!)

ds is yelling to 'shut DOWN the laptop!' but will check for your wisdom 2morrow! x

Please please where are the buggy addicts?
I'm at a loss!

sushistar · 04/04/2008 20:51

Sigh.
No one will help me. I'll buy the wrong one. It'll all end in tears.

Your buggy does not need to face both ways
Buy a maclaren - quest, triumph or volo

job done

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 20:57

new pliko switch? not sure if you can buy it here yet though.

NorthernLurker · 04/04/2008 21:00

no advice but I'm not surprised you want to swap the linear - I set my hand on one in Mothercare tonight - I like to have a bit of a nose round - and I could not believe the weight of it!

LadyJogsAlot · 04/04/2008 21:01

sushistar,

am in the same quandry.
so far have narrowed down to silver cross pop jet or a mamas and papas one

misdee · 04/04/2008 21:15

rear facing really doesnt fit in with everything else you want. most rear facing buggies fold down in two pieces.

i would recommend, maybe keeping your freeway for walks, big trips out where not using the bus.

if your little one is under 2 and prone to napping still then get a quest/techno (new 08 techno is fab and escape proof), if older than 2 and rarely naps then get a triumph.

unless you can raise mroe funds and get a bugaboo bee. looks fugly, but is a dream to push.

misdee · 04/04/2008 21:17

ladyjogs, dont get the m+p one. it has a 'free-roaming' harness which are a PITA on buggies with no bumper bars. i tried one with dd3, she was leaning really far forward and attempting to touch the wheels.

TheBlonde · 04/04/2008 21:21

misdee - I could do with your help here pleaseMB vs P&T

sushistar · 04/04/2008 21:42

I don't like maclarens :0(
They are grey.
Misdee, say someone was allergic to maclarens. What would you suggest?

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 04/04/2008 21:45

they do come in pink, red, blue
the grey is good cos it doesn't show the dirt

I'm sure someone will suggest something better!

sushistar · 04/04/2008 21:49

LO is only 5 months. Freeway is lovely around and about, but even in asda it's a bit big, let alone on public transport/in other shops. I've only used it as a pram, but as a pushchar is soooo massive. Anyhow, ds still needs to be able to nap alot and so it needs to lie flatish.

OP posts:
CarGirl · 04/04/2008 21:51

sell your freeway and get a bee tbh, either that or the maclaren.

schneebly · 04/04/2008 21:57

this is rather pretty

misdee · 04/04/2008 21:57

i'd say, search for pram skins/liners/snunkie on ebay and get them to make soemthing to fund up a mac.

macs are built to last and are absolutly brilliant. m+p just dont do strollers well at all IMO. nothing can touch a mac!

sushistar · 04/04/2008 22:21

anyone else suggest anything other than a mac?
can't afford a bee, and not sure i would want one tbh.

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 22:26

graco citisport, not sure if it has funky colours and it's not rear facing.
