Spirograph: what on earth happened?

DS got this for Christmas and it's not how I remember it - didn't you used to stick pins in to hold the pieces in place? And wasn't there a huge choice of wheels? Now it's incredibly cheap and nasty with a fiddly frame to put the paper in that even I'm struggling with, let alone ds!

Grr, rant over!

Horrible, isn't it? I haven't bought DD one cos I saw it at one of her friend's but it's one of my fondest memories of childhood, page after page of spiro patterns.

I hate the way things have gone all cheap and nasty cos the demand seems to be to have more of lower quality rather than a few nice toys.

I bet its health & safety gone mad .. some child probably pricked themselves on a pin and they're not allowed to use them any more

I remember spirograph fondly

God I wish I'd seen it before - I really wouldn't have bothered.
