Startrite only go to a G. Clarkes go to H but they are all summer shoes! Jones only sell clarkes and start tire.

Ds needs shoes NOW but i cant put him in summer shoes yet! His toes will freeze!

If you are happy to have preloved shoes I may have some.

My ds is an H and we go to an independent shop that sells Primigi shoes. His current boot-type ones cost £38, but they've lasted 4 mths and are still in good nick.

I know the feeling my son has had the same clarks pair in a H three times as his size has gone up. I am so bored with seeing the same style of shoe in his feet. He loves em though. Probably doesn't realise any other shoe exsists - bless him

My dd is an H but most styles are still to narrow for her. Clarks solution to this was to put her in a size bigger so I never went there again! anyway, i have mostly gone to independent shops that stock european brands as many of them are wider fitting. She is 4 now but I remember her first pair of proper shoes were by Babybotte which they stock then in Clinkards. If you ever want a wider pair of baseball style boots or pumps Tekilou do wide ones (made with leather).

ive just come back from a big clarkes and they told me the first pair i bought last week in a G (he hasnt worn clarkes for about 6 months so thought maybe he be ok in G as he got bigger, but no!) that they DO do in an H so have just bought them. He had them on for half hour and have left red marks on his instep. Hasnt complained about them... didnt cry when i touched it. Do you think this is ok?

We have to go to independant shoe shops as DS is a J width or so (v wide feet, but very high instep too) and none of the start rite or Clarks shoes will fit.
He has had Ricosta, Baby Oop, and Elefanten, and all fit beautifully - proper laced boots so they are very adjustable.

The independant shops really find shoes that find your child, not try to fit your child into a shoe.

Shoes shouldn't leave red marks unless you have fastened them too tight.

mad4mybaby · 31/03/2008 20:45

there is only one independant place near me and have tried there. How would i know if they are too tight if ds hasnt complained and is walking ok in them?

Fasten them looser and then see if there are still red marks.

stripeybumpsmum · 31/03/2008 20:58

We've only ever used StartRite for DS H fitting - www.startriteshoes.com

I get ds1's H fitting from Startrite no problem

Just got DS2's shoes (he is an H) from an independent shoe shop, they are by "Buckle my Shoe" and are very lovely, they cost £35 so just a bit more than Clarks. I was very impressed with how his feet were measured and how thorough the sales assistant was

A startrite G is apparently the same as a Clarks H. Dd was H fitting and got shoes from both clarks and startrite no problem.

lizziemun · 31/03/2008 21:43

I cant help with 'H' fitting shoes, but at least they stock them . DD1 is a 'c' fitting and none of the 3 local CLarks shop don't stock them.

I received their summer catalogue and don't think any of their shoes or sandle are a 'c' fitting.

So i have no idea where to get her sandles, so i think she will be bearfoot this summer.
