Anyone got a shopping trolley?

fryalot · 29/03/2008 14:17

one of these I mean, I don't mean a supermarket trolley

Whilst wandering round the market this morning, it dawned on dp and I that this is exactly what we need to put the shopping in, therefore leaving two hands free for chasing after small children.

So am looking for one on-line and they all seem to be either really old-woman-ish, or really (I mean really) expensive.

Any recommendations?

M&S do them . And I have a nagging suspicion either Orla Kiely or Cath Kidston does them too...

JRocks · 29/03/2008 14:23

I lingered over one in the family section of Ikea a couple of days ago..really wanted it too, but had an internal debate about looking elderly and left it there. It was only £11, probably should have bought it. Tits.

DragonSquonk · 29/03/2008 14:24

orla kiely do them - at £199.00 which would fall into my very expensive category.

M & S however, have one at £7.50 which is waaaay more my price range. It looks ok as well.

Off to M & S we go

thank you.

DragonSquonk · 29/03/2008 14:25

oooh - Ikea?

we're supposed to be going to Ikea next week... I'll have a nosey. eleven quid sounds ok

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 14:26

But aren't they for old ladies? i was thinking about this the other day. I'd love to use one (so convenient and no plastic bags) but I'm not ready to look like an old dear.

JRocks · 29/03/2008 14:28

I'm thinking the Ikea one I wanted would be a bit too bright for an old lady's sensibilities

barnstaple · 29/03/2008 14:32

I've got one of those really old-fashioned wicker ones. My mum had one when I was a kid. It is really old-ladyish, but I was accosted by the lad who works in our local cafe/bar who said "Oh wow, that's really cool!".

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 14:34

If I had a shopping trolly it would have to be Orla Kiely.

DragonSquonk · 29/03/2008 14:35

I can't find the ikea one on-line. Anyone got a link?

and I think that if you had a tartan patterned one, people may think that you'd mugged your granny, but not with one of these

DragonSquonk · 29/03/2008 14:35

here's the orla kiely one

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 14:35

Is the cafe/bar lad very camp?

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 14:36

Fabulous, fabuous, thankyou sqonk! When my pushchair days are over I will be getting one!

littleducks · 29/03/2008 14:40

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 14:40

Ah, those are nice Squonk. I think I'll deinitely be getting one. No more too-heavy plastic bags cutting my fingers to shreds.
Barnstaple, where can you buy the wicker ones?

barking · 29/03/2008 14:44

There is a wicker one here:

guardian guide shopping trolley

LynetteScavo · 29/03/2008 14:46

And I can imagine DH's face if he found out how much I'd spent on a trolley

JRocks · 29/03/2008 14:48

The Ikea one I saw (in cardiff) was pink and multicoloured pattern - but can't find a blardy picture anywhere, sorry

VoluptuaGoodshag · 29/03/2008 14:51

Get one - they are only perceived as being for old women because too many young people are too embarrassed to get one. They make perfect sense - why end up with arms like a gibbon, dragging along the road because of heavy shopping when you can have wheels instead. Everybody has a suitcase with wheels these days so why not a trolley (or a drag bag - google it). Also they are more green too and come in loads of funky colours.

Check out these ones

I'm getting a cow drag bag though my Mum wants a navy one coz she's an old lady

fryalot · 29/03/2008 14:59

Am going to get one of those flowery ones, I think Voluptua.

They're not at all old woman-ish and are quite reasonably priced.

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 15:02

Sorry Voluptua but most of those really are old lady bags.

fryalot · 29/03/2008 15:04

voluptua - have you been away? I don't seem to have seen you around for a while.

(although since I put the "hide topic" button to work, I miss loads of regular posters)

LyraSilvertongue · 29/03/2008 15:06

I could go for one of these though.

Kindersurprise · 29/03/2008 15:07

Have a look at the Reisenthel one that I have been coveting for a while now.

My car is not going to pass its MOT this year and I am going to buy one then.

Even if DH thinks they are poncetastic.
