Anyone know where I can get a 'poncho' style toddler towel?

I can't find one anwywhere! Have asked other people where they got them but they don't seem to exist anymore. Mothercare has one but it's 100% velour and won't be very good at 'drying'.
Thanks!

This butterfly one is cute if for a girl. Lots here - some velour, but not all.

I don't know if this is any use to you, but I made mine - easy peasy! Cut a corner off a bath sheet and stitch it onto the opposite corner. I bought some towelling, so mine were square which is better than normal towel-shaped. Be generous when you cut off the corner, it needs to be roomy.

It's for a boy - I'll have a look...

"Towcho" - I like it"

Thanks - I was evidently using the wrong search words (er, even though I work as a developer of search engines)

Thanks tearing - I'm afraid my sewing skills are limited to the odd missing button!

I think if you are googling you might be better with hooded towels as this is what they are usually referred to as. My company actually imports these and one of our customers has a website that sells them called drippin' wet swimwear (I kid you not! But whatever you do prob best not to google "drippin wet" god knows what will come up!!)

Try this link

www.drippinwetswimwear.co.uk/hoodedtowels.html

The towels on there are my designs, hope you like them

EachPeachPearMum · 29/03/2008 13:52

JOJO Maman Bebe have them with hoods- mners get 10% discount too.

I saw some yesterday in TKMaxx too, but they had disney characters on.

robinpud · 29/03/2008 13:53

Next have them in the summer directory at the very back

UppsyDaisy · 29/03/2008 13:53

oh thanks, jojo, they're cute. Like the bear one, it will go with his bright orange hair! Are they quite thick?

i've seen some in la redroute/vertbaudet with the towels

zippitippitoes · 29/03/2008 14:07

boots have them..oh maybe they are velour i dont know

otherwise cut a slit in an ordinary towel and bind the edges with bias binding or overlock

grannyslippers · 30/03/2008 22:36

We have some of the ones that Jojosmaman linked to - I'd say they are relatively thin towelling but dry the kids pretty well. They're velour pile on the printed side, the inside is normal towelling (more absorbent). Probably not the luxury end of the market in terms of size or thickness, but fine for 3/4 year olds. They came from Morrisons, and go swimming with us every week.

DS's love their superhero and shark ones - great designs!

wineplease · 30/03/2008 22:47

ikea have a great selection in the 'family' range

cece · 30/03/2008 22:54

Tesco had them last weekend - by the kids swimmers.

RGPargy · 30/03/2008 22:55

I saw one with a hood today in Toys R Us.

Bewilderbeast · 30/03/2008 23:12

ikea do great ones, they have poppers down the sides so you can put them on and then popper them up to keep them warm, the hood also attaches with poppers so you can take it off if your child hates it.

horsish · 31/03/2008 00:18

just cut a cross shaped hole in a towel and stick your wet toddler's head through it
