Quinny Zapp, McLaren, Silvercross Pop, other?

Probably been asked before but need a bit of specific advice. It's needed to replace old McLaren which is falling to bits after 2 1/2 years of use for ds2 who is 1, and occassionally for ds1, who is 3. Dh is mad that it needs replacing, says it must be rubbish to have fallen apart, but it was a display model first, ffs, surely this is normal?

Will be used mainly for popping round the shops and for holiday to the US -- can any of these go into the overhead bit of the plane?

Also, my MIL could open the McLaren but not close it. The Zapp looks a bit fiddly to open and close.

The Zapp doesn't recline, but looks more comfy due to the seat being more like a hammock, but some reviews seem unsure as to how comfortable it is. Like the recline on the Pop as opposed to the McLaren.

Any views much appreciated.

what about the luna? the zapp can fit in an overhead locket don't know about the others.

I think the Zapp or Zia (looks like a zapp but reclines) can go in overhead locker. We used a Micralite fastfold for holiday buggy last year and that worked well for us. Pop is good for the price especially if look on ebay. We have one now for a car buggy and is fine for shops etc but folds like a maclaren?

yep i find the zapp a PITA to unfold, easy enough to fold though.
i love mine,i bought it second hand and its been great my dd (2yo) is comfy napping in it but i wouldn't use it for a lo who sleeps a lot,
i would prob go for a zia as it reclines and has a (little) shopping basket

Thanks, am off to have a look for a luna or a zia -- any other thoughts???

Where can you buy the Zia? I'd like to see it first before I bought.

The luna looks nice but is a little bit more than what we need, I think. Might go to mamas and papas and try one tho.

I think the Zia will be too large to be classed as carry on luggage.

Do a search on the Luna on mumsnet - I seem to remember reading some pretty awful comments, incl someone being contacted by Watchdog re some pretty major "fault"

Zapp is great for a lightweight buggy, not that hard to un/fold imho, and DS 12mths is pretty comfy, but we only use it for shortish trips.

there have been problems with the luna - mainly that it didn't have a bumper bar which most people felt was unsafe as the harness is one of those ones that doesn't fix to the back of the pushchair. they have now brought a new one out that does have the bumper bar. or if you buy a second hand one without a bumper bar, you can ring them up and they'll send you one for free.
