Grobags?

Been looking at what we still need to get for baby and wondering what tog grobags we need? we have been given a 2.5 tog one but obviously will be summer so 'should be' too warm for it - also read somewhere that 2.5 was too heavy for them when they are little. They also do a 1 tog and a 0.5 tog so not sure what to buy - obviously dont want loads incase baby hates it!

Also... when is the best time to start using them it says they have to be at least 7lb... so in theroy could use right from the beginning if baby was that big...

You can get grobags for newborn babies - you just need to look at the weight.

For DD1 I didn't use them soon enough and she never liked them, With DD2 I used them from when she was about 1m old (before then she liked to be swadled), she is now 18m old and we've only just stopped using them as she now has a duvet which she adores, though you can use them for longet. Have you looked on grobags website www.grobag.com

I use 1 tog for warmer months and 2.5 tog for the cooler months - the 2.5tog is suitable for year round use except for high summer.

The proper grobags are suitable from 7lbs so could be used from birth if your lo didnt prefer being swaddled. If you visit the bump to 3 website you can find the full range of grobags plus they also do a range of swaddle blankets. You also get a 10% mumsnet discount by quoting MUMSW7 when you order.

I used them from birth with ds2 (who was over 7lb), and had newborn ones for ds1 (who wasn't).

I've found it useful to have at least 2 of whichever tog they are wearing in case they are sick over one of them in the night.

I've only used the 1.0 tog ones when it has been really hot as ds1's room rarely gets above 20 degrees.

I used 1 tog, and adjusted clothing underneath as necessary.

I think I've got a 0.5 tog baby one that is as new if you're interested in it? Gro-bags are fab I had huge babies though so could use them from birth much easier than blanets, sheets etc

and use those baby gowns instead of sleepsuits in the early months, no poppers to undo for the middle of the night nappy changes and most have built in scratch mitts - fab!

Hi I can send you a photo (probably tomorrow - first wedding anniversary, take away due soon!) £7 delivered? It's lemonish background, pale teddy bear print and blue bias binding edging - so unisex IMO. It zipa all the way around 0.5 tog by kiddycare, brushed cotton inner and buttons over the shoulders, it's very sweet. Let me have your email addy for a photo.
