Recommendations for a 'first' stereo/CD player

I'd like to get dd a CD player for her to have in her room, preferably one she can use herself. She is under 5 so will need one suitable for children, but want it to last a while too!

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

My son has had this one from Argos since he was about 5.

It's not a kiddie one but is pretty simple to operate.

my dd has had the elc one since she was 2. Its easy to use and my 19 month old can also use it. Its also taken a few bashings really well. Highly recommend one, DD loves putting cd's in hers and dancing about

I bought DD2 an ELC one and that's fine but quite expensive for what it is I think. I'm also just waiting for the 'door' to get broken as it seems a bit flimsy.

With DD1's tape recorder (from ELC a couple of years ago), I put a green sticker on the play button and a red sticker on the stop button, showed her how to put the tape in and take the tape out and then left her to it. In time she worked out the FWD and RWD buttons by herself. I'm just mentioning that because it occured to me that by using stickers to begin with, it doesn't really matter how easy or not the machine is to use and so it might be worthwhile buying a less childish (ie. cheaper) one - I saw a pink 'Worth It' one from Woolworths. It was around £14 I think.

we got a cheap one from tescos for dd's room, she's had it since she was about 2.5 because she loved dancing and listening to music and stories - still going strong and wouldn't be devestated if it got ruined or it died as it was so cheap

if your dd is 4 then she'll be the same age as mine and will probably be able to work it better than you!!
