Virgin TV when you have their phone & internet already

Anyone else got Virgin phone and broadband but Freeview TV, and being badgered by Virgin to take on their TV "service" for an extra £1 a month?

I don't like buying things when I am phoned up at a time convenient for them, and I want to know why "I'll think about it" is not an acceptable answer. Because I really meant I'd think about it - I wasn't just fobbing her off. If i didn't want it I'd have said "no thanks." But I want to phone them and arrange it, not vice-versa. So she said "well, I'm afraid you've missed out, then."

The only things we'd want which we can't get on freeview are UK Gold and Sky One (only for Lost!).

Has anyone else had it? Is it really only a pound a month or do they put it up?

how much are you currently paying for your phone and broadband??

UnquietDad · 19/03/2008 11:49

£40 a month - that's with calls all in, as long as we don't go over an hour.

I have broadband, TV (just the basic family pack) and phone and it costs me £30 (£35 as I don't pay by DD - but with calls that aren't included - mobiles etc usually around £40).

It may be worth taking it up and then after a month or so threaten to leave for sky........they'll probably give you the £30 deal for all 3 then.

Hmmm... interesting!

we were paying a LOT more than that when they took over NTL. Of course the £30 deal was for "new customers only" - so I rang up and threatened to leave for Sky (I'd never do it - we used to have Sky and as annoying as virgin could be they'll never top Sky LOL) and they reduced it to the £30 without any fuss at all./

New customers always get a better deal than existing ones. Seems to apply to everything!

so do old ones if you threaten to leave for their rivals

southeastastra · 19/03/2008 11:59

you can't get sky on virgin at all.

GreatAuntieWurly · 19/03/2008 11:59

UnquietDad · 19/03/2008 12:10

Can you not, SEA? She said you could... It's their 100-channel package.

we don't have any Sky channels - did with NTL - but TBH we haven't missed them at all......and H was an avid watcher of some Sky channels.

southeastastra · 19/03/2008 14:32

we haven't got sky one at all, haven't had it since last feb when the changeover happened.

wonder if anyone else has or if they're offering it to new customer now
