Seeking some pointers for a good dog walking coat or jacket. I have loads of coats but they can't withstand the current cold/heavy rain combo. I live fairly coastal/rural and also in the northern part of the UK so it isn't renowned for being dry, or warm.
Debating whether to get a coat that I can add a warm layer to, rather than just one big bulky coat, but it absolutely must be waterproof. Had a couple of episodes recently with water running down the inside of the coat when caught in the rain. My 14 month old terrier pup doesn't give two figs but I am old and I do !
Also for seasoned dog walkers, although the coat is waterproof, the water runs into/onto your trousers, so is it long coat or jacket with waterproof trousers??
I had a big dog many years ago and got by with a brilliant goretex jacket and layers, but I was much younger then and so now wondering if style and coat technology has moved on in the subsequent years.
